Wrongful Death Law in the U.S.

 

A wrongful death is a death that would not have occurred were it not for the negligence or misconduct of a company or individual.  In the U.S., wrongful death could be caused by medical errors, criminal attacks, car accidents, medical malpractice, exposure to dangerous conditions or substances at work, plane accidents, and medical malpractice.

 

In general, the damages sued for are for monetary losses and for loss of companionship, but can also include damages linked to sorrow, grief, and mental suffering.
